Do we work nationwide in Germany and offer internships?

We operate nationwide in sensible cases and weigh each individual case. This is also in your interest, because it is not in your interest to incur travel and absence expenses of specialists for small costs.

Without exception, we do not offer internships.

How quickly do we respond: Usually within a few hours on weekdays -> we are very fast and there is always an answer. Please give us a little more time on weekends and holidays. If you wait longer than 2 business days for a response from us: check your SPAM folder!

What cases do we take on?

We only take on active criminal defense and defense in fine proceedings for consumers and private individuals. In addition, we only accept mandates from companies, managers, and executives in the following areas: IT law, commercial criminal law, manager liability, (IT) contract law, IT labor law, and digital copyright/media/competition law.

We are a small law firm that is committed to providing personalized service. We can only achieve this by accepting clearly defined mandates, as otherwise our resources would be insufficient.

Therefore, please understand that we do not handle traffic accidents, immigration law, or general civil/family law cases for consumers, nor do we represent private individuals who are victims of criminal offenses. We do not handle debt collection, compensation for pain and suffering, or debt recovery. We also do not act on your behalf if you feel persecuted or stalked, for example, because you believe that third parties or the police are monitoring you in your everyday life or eavesdropping on you. We are also no longer active in the field of forensic commitment.

Why our law firm in Germany?

We do things differently: no standard law firm, no standard secretariat, no standard way of working. On the one hand a very personal way of working and accessibility, on the other hand high, interdisciplinary qualifications – coupled with honesty. Because we have a well-thought-out compensation model from start to finish, we can afford to be honest at all times!

We don’t put up smoke screens, we don’t need show effects to maintain the mandate, but we tell you openly and honestly where you stand. Then if disagreement arises because you had hoped for something different, we have experience with that and will help you develop a realistic joint strategy through organized communication. With us, there is no such thing as “the lawyer won’t call you back.” Our lawyers are always available in person, do not hide behind the secretary’s desk, and usually return calls within a few hours.

For this to work, you have to be able to work digitally: We have Messenger and we like emails. Because we’re in court during the day, it’s obvious you can’t just call and we always answer the phone – and we don’t want people on the phone for a lot of money just taking callback requests, which is easier these days.

Can I ask questions about blog articles?

Our German website is almost legendary: more than 10,000 freely available articles, plus more and more articles in Dutch on this site here and new ones are added all the time. But: writing is a hobby of our lawyers and does not mean spending time on questions about articles. Briefly, the following:

• Questions about our articles on the website will not be answered. Want to discuss in general? Then use the freely available discussion forums. You must book an initial consultation with us for a fee.
• Consumers are supported only in criminal defense and occasionally in employment or media law. Nowhere else. The fact that our website includes articles about other areas does not change that.
• Do you see things differently than in the blog post? Feel free to share your opinions on discussion forums or social media – or write your own blog. But don’t write us about it.

How much does our service cost?

We always charge at least the legal fee according to the German Law on Lawyers’ Fees, as you would expect from any lawyer. In addition, we offer flat-rate introductory packages and generally set package prices based on our hourly rate and expected number of hours. Public defenses are delivered on a case-by-case basis in the Aachen District Court.

On our website you will find our hourly rates transparently displayed, which is already unusual for lawyers – but shows that our prices are not “fake prices” that then change again. With us, you know where you stand, you can count – and compare. But never compare only the price, but also the type of communication and the quality of qualification.

I just have one question: is it free?

Without exception, we do not offer a free initial consultation and do not accept cases on the basis of legal aid (PKH). Public defenses are accepted on a case-by-case basis within the district of the Aachen District Court.

Our team is highly specialized – we invest significant amounts of money every year in continuing education, not only in the legal field, but also in disciplines such as communication studies. What should you budget for?

Of course, you want to know what the cost is or how much time is appropriate, but we can’t possibly predict this – in particular, we don’t know how much time you yourself need for meetings or how thick a research file is.

The starting price for a criminal defense is usually 714 euros (incl. VAT), for IT law you need to schedule 5 to 10 hours for consultation or contractual matters.

What is our hourly rate – and what about legal expenses insurance?

If you do not make use of a package price, we work with two hourly rates depending on the scope of the work: For simple to moderately complex consumer matters, our hourly rate is EUR 238 (incl. VAT), otherwise our hourly rate is EUR 357 (incl. VAT).

We settle with legal expenses insurers (RSV) only in individual cases, after payment of an advance, only in actions for unreasonable dismissal – and in white-collar criminal law, provided criminal legal expenses insurance plus or D&O insurance has been taken out. In all other cases we do not settle with your RSV, i.e. you receive our invoice and must pay it; you are of course free to submit it to your RSV yourself.
